Our Story:
Angel Heart Pajama Project began with a simple yet profound idea: every child deserves to feel safe, warm, and loved, especially at bedtime. Founded by a group of compassionate individuals who saw the need for basic comforts among children facing adversity, our organization quickly grew from a grassroots initiative into a beacon of hope for many families. Guided by our belief in the power of kindness and generosity, we are committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of children across our community. For many of these children, pajamas and books are more than just items; they symbolize security, dignity, and comfort in times of uncertainty.
Our Mission:
At Angel Heart Pajama Project, our mission is to provide comfort, warmth, and hope to children in crisis by supplying them with new pajamas and new books, thereby addressing both their personal and emotional needs.
Since 2013, Angel Heart has become the leading resource in Southern Arizona for enhancing sleep quality and fostering a love of reading. We have provided pajamas and books to over 73,000 children.

Angel Heart aims to improve children’s quality of life, strengthen community partnerships, boost children’s self-esteem, raise awareness of children’s challenges, demonstrate care and compassion, and create a sense of security and normalcy for children.
The Angel Heart Pajama Project is dedicated to bringing warmth and comfort to homeless children throughout the year by providing them with new pajamas. Honoring Dr. Patricia Lopez
It is with profound sadness that Angel Heart Pajama Project shares the passing of our beloved former Executive Director, Dr. Patricia "Patti" Lopez.
Patti was more than a leader to Angel Heart—she was a champion for children, a mentor to volunteers, a trusted colleague, and a dear friend. Her compassion, vision, and unwavering commitment to serving children in crisis helped shape Angel Heart into the organization it is today.
After a distinguished career in education, including service as Deputy Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer for Tucson Unified School District, Patti brought her passion for children and families to Angel Heart Pajama Project. She believed that every child deserved comfort, dignity, and hope, especially during life's most difficult moments.
Under Patti's leadership, Angel Heart expanded its reach throughout Southern Arizona, strengthening partnerships with schools, shelters, foster care agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations. Through her dedication and tireless advocacy, thousands of children received new pajamas and books—simple gifts that delivered comfort, security, and the reassurance that someone cared.
Patti often reminded us that a pair of pajamas and a bedtime story represented much more than material items. They were symbols of love, kindness, and hope. She understood that small acts of compassion could make a lasting difference in a child's life.
Her leadership inspired volunteers, donors, board members, and community partners alike. She had a remarkable ability to bring people together around a common purpose and to help others see the extraordinary impact of ordinary kindness. Whether she was speaking at a community event, delivering pajamas to a partner agency, or thanking a volunteer, Patti led with grace, humility, and a generous heart.
The impact of her work will be felt for generations. Thousands of children across Southern Arizona have experienced comfort and hope because of her dedication. Countless volunteers and supporters have been inspired by her example of servant leadership and compassion.
While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate a life well lived—a life devoted to helping others, uplifting children, and strengthening our community.
Patti's legacy lives on in every child who receives the comfort of new pajamas and the joy of a new book. It lives on in every volunteer who chooses to serve, every donor who chooses to give, and every community partner who joins us in caring for children in need.
