Planned Giving

What is Planned Giving?

Planned giving is a donor’s intention to contribute a major gift to an organization, beyond their lifetime. So, unlike an annual gift (an outright gift made for current use), a planned gift is for the future. Essentially, donors make arrangements for planned gifts in the present, but they are actually distributed at a later date. Additionally, the major gifts contributed by a donor can be made as a part of their financial or estate plans.

So, by definition, planned giving is not limited by donors’ current wealth. Unlike the value of donations, donors contribute on a recurring basis, planned giving enables them to contribute gifts that they wouldn’t ordinarily be able to make. The gifts donated end up being larger and aren’t dependent on one’s regular income.

If you would like to consider a planned gift to Angel Heart Pajama Project, please contact Patti Lopez, Executive Director at patti.lopez@ymail.com or 520-870-2829.

There are many ways to begin planning your legacy.

Wills and Living Trusts

The simplest gift is a bequest in your will or living trust that directs specific assets or a percentage of your estate to establish a fund or to add to an existing fund.

Charitable Remainder Unitrust

Your unitrust pays for a fixed percentage of its value, determined each year, to you or others you name for life or a term of years. The remaining assets then go to the charity.

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust

Your trust pays for a fixed dollar amount each year to you or other you name for life or a term of years. The remaining assets then go to the charity.

Pooled Income Fund

Your gift is pooled in a fund with gifts from other donors. You or others you name receive your gift’s share of the income the fund earns each year for life. Your gift’s share of the fund then goes to charity.

Retained Life Estate

You deed your home or farm to charity but retain the right to live in it for the rest of your life, a term of years, or a combination of the two.

Charitable Lead Unitrust

Your unitrust pays a fixed percentage of its value, determined each year to charity for a term of years or one or more lifetimes. The accumulated assets then go back to you or others you name.

Charitable Lead Annuity Trust

Your trust pays a fixed dollar amount each year to charity for a term of years or one or more lifetimes. The accumulated assets then go back to you or others you name.
